Magnificent of Peru
Cuzco was cold but an amazing historical city. My hotel room was right in front of the fountain and within walking distance to Cathedral and touristic surrounding. Since it was December 8, a national holiday in Peru set aside in celebration of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary, there were lots of festivals including procession.
What at perfect time to experience the earthquake of magnitude 5.9 and we could see the Misti Mountain “smoking” – the active volcano mountain.
During the day it was hot but during the night it was cold even though it was summer time. I enjoyed the monastery and the sunset at this place. The whole journey is awesome and please fell free to get details at my Peru blog.
Argentina and Brazil Spectacular Waterfalls
One of the planet’s most awe-inspiring sights, the Iguazú Falls are simply astounding.
Amazing Brazil & Enjoy the slide show
My 1st stop to Brazil is Iguassu and celebrated my birthday with my host. Thanks to all the lovely greetings from all over the world. Because of all of you, I am blessed. The next morning, I took the bus crossing two immigration checkpoints to Argentina Iguassu falls. Iguassu falls is the marvelous waterfalls in South America. It is a place not to be missed! I enjoyed the water boat splash and had fun! Do visit the Brazil fall side as well. Another good place to visit is to cross over to Paraguay – the poorer city of Ciudad del Este.
Rio de Janeiro offers beaches, dramatic mountains, artistic places, and samba. In this city, I always have small change, as they will ask “tips” for taking the photo of their artwork like the one - Copacabana Beach. Copacabana Beach is usually crowded with foreigners and Ipanema Beach with locals. There was an interesting study that at station Port 1, Port 2 is favored by different social classes of people at Ipanema beach. Professor recommended me to visit the “Tijuca” forest and his wife on the way to work showed me how to get there. Tijuca forest was a coca plantation before it was replanted to be the present forest. The place is awesome, and it was cooling in the forest for the summer heat.
My next host lives below the mountain of “Christ the Redeemer”. “Christ the Redeemer” is also one of the wonders of the world on top of the hill. I found that going during the late afternoon until evening was good to capture the sunset and got the best of both views. The last tram down is at 7.30 pm so I saw the sunset on the way down. This year 2020 is a year of the global pandemic and the prayer for the world “Gob bless us” from “Christ the Redeemer” Brazil with love.
